Those featured in the concert will be: Brenda Cause as Master of Ceremonies; The Seaside Instrumental Ensemble w/ guest conductor Jason Seip of WBHS Band; The Seaside Choir lead by Kathryn Parker, accompanied by Lynn Wood; Marcia Crosby's dramatic reading; Susan McDonald's recognition of local hero's; the Children's Joyful Noise Choir; guest soloist Laura Kelly (who has sung along side great gospel artists as Heaven Bound, The Hoppers, Brian Free and Assurance, Karen Peck and New River, The Talley Trio, and Gaither performing artist Lynda Randle, just to name a few) and Brenda Causey once again leading everyone who attends in singing "God Bless America". During the concert, we will recognize all branches of the Military Service as well as our local heroes. Local heroes include: firemen, police, rescue squads, sheriff's, highway patrolmen, Red Cross and National Guard. Tickets will not be needed for this free concert. A love offering will be taken, with proceeds going to the church's Country Fair which distributes them to local outreach ministries and the building fund.

Our special month has finally arrived, and everyone and everything is about ready for the biggest event in our church year—THE COUNTRY FAIR. The dates are Friday and Saturday, September 17th and 18th.
So many people have worked so hard for an entire year getting things organized for each booth. Church members, friends, and other interested individuals have been extremely generous in donating and collecting goods for us to sell. We have many nice items in every department—something for everyone. If you haven’t had the opportunity to help organize, price, pick-up, create, decorate, clean, repair, or bake, please donate a few hours on Thursday, September 16th to set up the booths. Workers will be at the church all day and can find a job for anyone. So please come out and help! The hours of operation for the Fair are 7AM until 8PM on Friday (so you can shop after you have had dinner), and 7AM until 2PM on Saturday.
The event begins the week before the Fair on Saturday, September 11th, with the Kick-off Concert, to be held in the sanctuary at 7PM. There will be no ticket reservations—first come, first served. The program, planned by Kathy Parker and Brenda Causey, is a spectacular salute to our local and regional heroes as we remember the events of September 11, 2001, on its 9th year anniversary. The choir, along with special guest soloist, Laurie Kelly, will present a program of inspirational music. This is one concert you will not want to miss, so bring your friends and family and come early to claim your seat.
Another part of the Fair that everyone enjoys is the food. On both Friday and Saturday mornings, beginning at 7AM, sausage biscuits, coffee and juice will be available outside the kitchen for a nominal fee. If you prefer something sweet, the baked goods booth will have a variety of muffins, cookies, Danish patries, candies, breads, pies, cakes, etc. in every size, kind, and flavor. For lunch you may visit our grilling station and get a great hamburger, hot dog, or Italian sausage—try all three—with the availability of a variety of soft drinks. On Friday night, September 17th, you may feast at our annual dinner on fried chicken, green beans, coleslaw, macaroni and cheese, rolls and tea for a cost of $8 for adults, $5 for young people (ages 6-18), and children 5 and under eat free. If you prefer to have dessert with your meal, you may also visit the baked goods booth for that “something extra.” Tickets for the Friday night meal are required. If you did not receive tickets in the mail, or did not purchase them at the special table on Sunday morning, August 29th, you still can get them by picking them up at the church office from Darcie or Carol any time during the days before the Country Fair, or by visiting the tables set up for the purchase of tickets on Sunday, September 5th and 13th. You may also purchase tickets at the door—no one will be turned away—just remember that it helps us to know how much to prepare if you purchase your tickets in advance.
One new procedure that we have incorporated into this year’s Country Fair, is the use of the credit card machine. Any purchases from any booths that are made at the Fair, or any tickets that are bought for the Friday night meal, may be charged to your Master Card, Visa, or Discover credit cards.
As time draws near, and as we all reflect on the many uses of the money generated from this fund raising event, let us all be in prayer that this be a cooperative, successful opportunity for our church and for our community. SEE YOU AT THE COUNTRY FAIR!

SOO-EE, SOO-EE, CALLING ALL PIG LOVERS! Once again, Mike and Bev Williams will be hosting their annual Bar-B-Que dinner to raise additional funds for the Country Fair. This dinner will be held at their home on 303 Shoreline Drive East on Saturday night, October 9th and Sunday night, Oct. 10th, beginning at 6:00 PM (The original announcement stated that the dinner would be held on Oct. 8th and 9th, but due to an already scheduled wedding event at the church on Oct. 8th, the dinner has been rescheduled for Oct. 9th and 10th). Mike will smoke the pig and Bev will prepare the rest of the meal, which will feature down-home Bar-B-Que with your choice of sauces, potato salad, baked beans, coleslaw, rolls, dessert, tea, lemonade, or coffee. The price for the meal is $15 per person. ALL the money from the sale of the tickets will go to the church Country Fair fund, and Mike and Bev will provide the food, service, and location. Tickets can be purchased from Mike and Bev or through the church office. Your tickets can also be charged to your Master Card, Visa, or Discover card, but this transaction must be handled through the church office. Seating is limited to 50 people per evening, so make your reservations early. Last year was a sell-out and we hope to have a sell-out this year, and, despite last year’s rain, a good time was had by all.

The Country Fair is rapidly approaching and once again we will need all the help we can get the week of 9/14-9/18.
The Silent Auction Committee is again asking if any members have a talent, service or item to donate to our Silent Auction part of the Country Fair. Already, members of our church have donated cottages, decorated cakes, paintings, household handmade items such as pottery and stained glass, and various services—detailing a car/truck or cooking a meal for eight. Thank you to all of you that have donated these items and services. It is not too late for others to join in and give of their talents.
Every year The Silent Auction tries to present the Country Fair shoppers with items, services or talents that we think they will bid on and use. This year, that is our goal again.
Thank you so much for your help in making our Silent Auction last year a great success. We hope to hear from members who donated their talent, services or items last year as well as adding new names to the list of donors for this year. Thank you so much.

DivorceCare groups meet weekly to help you face these challenges and move toward rebuilding your life. Each DivorceCare session has two distinct elements:
During the first 30-40 minutes of the meeting, each DivorceCare group watches a video seminar featuring top experts ondivorce and recovery subjects. These videos are produced in an interesting-to-watch television magazine format featuring expert interviews, real-life case studies and on-location video.
After viewing the video, DivorceCare group participants spend time as a support group, discussing what was presented in that week's video seminar and what is going on in the lives of group members.
Our next Divorce Care group meets on each Tuesday Evening on an ongoing basis. If you are interested or want more information, please contact us using the form on this page or by emailing divorcecare(at)seasideumc.org.
